Privacy & Disclosure

Your money, your records, your privacy.

Who we are

Emerge Lotus (emergelotus.com) is owned and operated by Baheejah McThay, a sole proprietor trading as Emerge Lotus. We are the data controller for the personal information described here — meaning we decide what is collected and why, and we're responsible for looking after it.

We only collect the personal data we need to provide the service to you. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not collect data just to have it.

See also our Terms & Conditions and Refund Policy.

The short version

  • Emerge Lotus is non-custodial. Your cash stays with you — we never hold, move, or touch your money.
  • We are a private money tracker. What you record here is for your own eyes, and the eyes of the trusted people you choose to share it with.
  • We only collect the personal data needed to provide the service — such as your name, email, and the records you choose to save.
  • We do not sell your information. Not to advertisers, not to brokers, not to anyone.
  • We do not monitor your activity outside the app. No ad-tracking pixels chasing you around the web, no location tracking, no shadow profile.
  • We do not collect data we don't need to run the app for you.

Non-custodial, in plain words

"Non-custodial" means Emerge Lotus never has custody of your funds. There is no wallet you fund with us, no balance we hold on your behalf, no way for us to withdraw, transfer, or freeze your money. The numbers you see in the app are your own tracking. The actual dollars live wherever you keep them — your safe, your bank, your credit union — under your name and your control.

What we collect (and why)

To sign you in and save your records securely, we store only what's needed:

  • Your account email — so you can sign back in.
  • The information you type into the app — your income, expenses, savings goals, calendar entries, and mentor chats. This is your data.
  • Basic technical logs (things like error reports) needed to keep the app running. These are kept minimal and used only to fix problems.

We do not ask for or store your bank login credentials, card numbers, Social Security number, or the passwords to any outside account. If you jot a reference in your notes ("credit union — Main St branch"), that stays a note. We're not connected to your bank.

How your data is kept

  • Your records are stored in a secure database with row-level security — only your account can read your rows.
  • Traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
  • Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us in plain text.
  • You can delete your account and your records at any time by writing to us — see Contact.

What we don't do

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
  • We do not run advertising in the app, and we do not share your data with ad networks.
  • We do not track your browsing outside Emerge Lotus.
  • We do not read your mentor chats to profile you or train outside models on your private data.
  • We do not report your finances to credit bureaus, tax authorities, or anyone else. What you record is yours.

Legal basis for using your information

  • Performance of a contract — to create your account, save your records, and provide your membership.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the app secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems.
  • Consent — for anything optional, such as non-essential cookies or marketing emails. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • Legal obligation — where the law requires us to keep or disclose something.

Who we share information with

We share only what's needed, with these categories of recipients:

  • Service providers (processors) — hosting, authentication, database, error logging, and the AI that powers your mentor. They act on our behalf under their own security terms.
  • Merchant of Record — Paddle.com handles the sale of memberships, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing. Paddle collects and processes your payment details directly under its own privacy notice; we never see or store your card numbers.
  • Professional advisers — legal or accounting support, where genuinely needed.
  • Authorities — only where the law requires it.

We do not authorize any of them to sell your data or use it to build advertising profiles.

How long we keep it

We keep your records for as long as your account is open, so your history stays with you. If you close your account or ask us to delete it, we remove your personal records within 30 days, except where we must keep something longer for legal or accounting reasons (for example, membership invoices). Anything we no longer need is deleted or anonymised.

Cookies

We use essential cookies and local storage only — to keep you signed in and remember small preferences (like whether you've seen today's payday greeting). We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Paddle may set cookies during checkout to complete your purchase securely. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though signing in may stop working if you block the essential ones.

Your rights

  • Access — you can see and export the information you've entered.
  • Correction — you can edit or delete individual entries at any time.
  • Deletion — you can ask us to close your account and remove your records.
  • Questions — you can reach us any time, see below.

Our Philosophy

Your worth is not measured by what's in your bank account.

However much you make, you deserve peace of mind — and a cushion for the day you need to rest. A mental health day. A few days away because of an illness, or a loved one's. A bill that still gets paid while you're not there. Emerge Lotus exists so that when life happens you won't panic because you prepared.
